Work
2020-24 – Alzheimer’s Research UK, leading a team of 4 working on research strategy, impact and evaluation, and becoming Head of Strategy & Impact in May 2023.
2019-20 – Sagentia Innovation, Senior Analyst.
Education
2015-19 – University of Cambridge, PhD in Organic Chemistry. Included a 2016 research placement at the Technical University of Eindhoven.
2013-15 – University of Valencia, MPhil in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
2008-13 – University of Valencia, BSc in Chemistry (Licenciatura, 5-year programme). Included an Erasmus Research Placement in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, 2012-13.
Hi, I’m Jorge. I was previously Head of Strategy & Impact at a large charitable research funder, where I experienced first-hand the challenges faced by research teams.
I realised that research organisations frequently find themselves having to make funding and strategy decisions without vital context that could help them.
It is often believed that the data that can support that decision-making only exists in paid databases behind expensive paywalls. But in the majority of cases the data that’s needed is freely available, yet teams are unsure where to start when it comes to finding and analysing it to inform their work.
I created Magenti Methodologies to help solve this challenge.
I combine my scientific training and technical data skills with a working understanding of the research funding sector, and put them to use answering complex questions for my clients.
With my expertise, I can provide insights that will help you to make better, more informed decisions – so that ultimately, your research can have a greater impact.

I keep you involved at every step, walking you through my methodology and taking the time to explain my findings, so you can make the best use of the data and insights I provide.
If you need it, I can also provide training so that you can carry out your own analyses and generate new understanding in future.
Three more important things about me…
1. I am Mateo's dad and Nard's husband. If you work with me, you may hear me talk about the latest nursery virus we have at home.
2. I take a lot of pride in the work that I do, and I often get excited about things I learn when I am doing something new (so I try to do as many new things as I can!).
3. I absolutely love cooking. Actually, I absolutely love eating good food, and cooking helps with that!
